5th Frome Beaver Scout Colony

East Somerset District Scouts, Somerset

Beavers are usually aged between six and eight years old, though they can be as young as five and three quarters.

They usually meet weekly to take part in a wide range of activities including games, crafts, singing, visits and good turns, along with plenty of outdoor activities.

They will also have the opportunity to take part in the fun and excitement of camps and sleepovers. It may be the first time they spend a night away from home so it’s a real adventure for them.

Joining

Earlier entry is at the Beaver Scout Leader's discretion (for example, to allow someone a little bit younger to join at the same time as their friends).

Structure

A group of Beavers is called a Colony, and each Colony can be split up into smaller groups called Lodges.

Beavers have a Promise and Motto, but there is not a Beaver Scout Law. The concepts of the Scout Law should be presented to Beavers through games, storytelling and other informal devices.

Family Walk - 11th July 2019
06/07/2019 By Paul Marsh

Please note that on Thursday 11th  July there will be no meetings at Tedbury Camp Site due to its use by other external organisations. Therefore as we do at this time each year, we will be running a family walk on the Thursday evening for all age groups i.e. Beavers, Cubs and Scouts and encourage all family members to come along (Dogs also welcome)  and join us for the evening. We will also running a scavenger hunt (Download Here) where you have to find objects starting with any of the letters that make up "Frome Scouts" (Participants may want to bring a small bag or rucksack to collect objects). On our return to the church, leaders will check and score each sheet.

This year the walk will start at the Church at East Woodlands (see location on the left hand side of the map HERE) at 6:00pm and will take us on a circular route through rolling countryside around Roddenbury Hill on the Longleat Estate and back. It is expected that we will arrive back at the church car park by approx 8:15pm. There will be refreshments just over half way round, which Ray will provide when we get to Friggle Street (see the top of the map HERE).

If you are just dropping your Beaver, Cub or Scout and not coming on the walk yourself that's fine, please just ensure your child finds their respective leader and lets them know
